I can safely say that independent singer-songwriter Jesse Boykins is one of the best, yet overlooked, vocalists out today. Early this week the budding soul singer took to the web and released a remake of one of my favorite Andre 3000 tracks “Prototype.” The up-and-comer pays proper homage to Mr. Andre Benjamin and The Isley Brothers with this quality cover—after listening, I think you’ll agree. Designer Melody Ehsani

Does the word ‘POW’ look familiar? If it doesn’t—you clearly haven’t been following the M.E. movement. Which we find extremely hard to understand because practically everywhere you turn you will find Melody Ehsani’s designs adorning industry sweethearts like Keri Hilson, Rihanna , Ciara, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, and most recently, Jazmine Sullivan wore Melody Ehsani’s lightening bolt earrings, medallions, and ‘POW’ ring in her new “Holding You Down (Goin’ In Circles)” video.

With everything from shoes to bamboos, the LA based and breed designer most definitely holds the ladies down.

But with the new fashion season comes change. Ehsani’s new Fall 2010 collection will also cater to the fella’s.

Her Capsule M.E.NS collection includes Varsity, Galaxy, and Spaceman pins that can be customized like her beloved ladies jewelry. This looks like just the beginning for Eshani’s M.E.NS collection–we will keep you posted guys!…Ladies, you already know we got you on the M.E Fall ‘10 collection…

There is something about listening to a track entitled “Dirty After Dark” that makes your mind go places it probably shouldn’t go before dark. Independent singer-songwriter CR Da Show emerges from the flourishing DMV (DC, MD, and VA) music scene with sultry vocals, seductive lyrics atop a hypnotic beat on his debut single “Dirty After Dark”, which is bound to be a staple single on your ‘Late-Night-Lovin’ playlist. The seductive track produces an authentic R&B sound which will surely have your ears at attention!

The multitalented, CR, has already opened up for recording artists like Tank and Raheem Devaughn, and recently Nappy Boy Entertainment head T-Pain a.k.a Teddy P personally gave him his stamp of approval. With an impressive ability to sing, write, and produce his own music, CR def has the key elements to stay grounded in the game.

This Just in! Soulful Songstress Jazmine Sullivan released her much anticipated video “Holding You Down” off her upcoming album Love Me Back today – and of course we had to share. A few months back, we bumped to the old school inspired single and could not wait to see the visual. Well here it is! The video’s theme fits the track quite well and is definitely relatable in more ways than one, for both the ladies and 80’s babies. Check out what I mean and watch it now!

If Vaughn Anthony’s name doesn’t ring a bell, than his voice might. Much like his big bro John Legend, the singer-songwriter’s raw sound can only be described as pure soul. But aside from the melt-your-heart vocals—clearly a treasured family jewel—the brothers couldn’t be more opposite.

The HomeSchool recording artist—Legend’s label—is following the same path as his older brother, but he is not walking in his shadow. His often sexy lyrics and athletic appeal will definitely make you question whether he is the brother to bring home to mother. Anthony has done hip-hop collaborations with his labelmate Estelle on a track entitled “Paragraphs of Love” from Ghostface’s latest album. He was also featured on the track “Alright” with Rick Ross. And his latest release entitled “In Your shoes,” off of his latest EP The Future features Universal Recording vocalist Olivia.

I think Vaughn Anthony is most definitely walking in his own shoes.

Falguni and Shane Peacock, gives us fashionistas another reason to breathe again. Their culturally inspired fashion line breathes tons of innovation, fun, and couture classics into my veins. Each piece is intricately crafted to create a highly detailed line full of rich colors, patterns, textures, sequins, embroideries, and jewels that only a real Glit girl would brave to wear.

A few months back when singer/actress Brandy wore an exclusive piece from the duo’s line to the BET Awards 2010 Pre-Party…I fell in love.  Foolishly, I didn’t take the time out to find out who the designer was. A few days ago, I was reacquainted with the piece and those same emotions that I originally felt upon seeing it returned. This time I could not pass up the privilege of finding out the responsible party for such a unique piece.  Low and behold, it was by an Indian duo…Falguni and Shane Peacock.  As if Indian fashion isn’t already a Go!…Falguni and Shane just had to kick it up a few notches by brilliantly combining their culture’s fashion with a bit of a modern/futuristic twist.  The line is fun, funky, fashion forward, and most certainly, DARING! I am in love and I am truly looking forward to seeing everything from here on out from Falguni and Shane Peacock.

Roc Nation recording artist Bridget Kelly has already spent plenty of time in the spotlight, but usually in the shadows of big names like Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.

After being signed to Roc Nation in 2008, Bridget took to stages around the world performing alongside Jay-Z as a fill-in for Alicia Keys. When the 23-year-old NYC-bred singer/songwriter belted out the hook to “Empire State of Mind,” fans were left asking themselves “Who is that on stage with Jay-Z? Is that Alicia Keys?”

For the most part, the tour and a growing number of Twitter followers has helped Bridget Kelly a.k.a @theycallmeBK expose her true identity, but her debut album is sure to answer any unanswered question about who the budding singer really is.

A Bit of the New Voices Tour Background

Just in case you have been out of the loop on one of the biggest /latest movements to keep music alive, let me enlighten you. Back in June the music industry’s generation next, Vanessa & Angela Simmons along with Antonio Jr. & Aaron Reid, launched what could possibly be the most promising resolution to bring back music’s authenticity…The New Voices Tour!

While it would have been more than simple to sit back and enjoy the compliments of being heirs to their families’ empires, this tenacious group of moguls in the making decided that they wanted more than simply being known as the sons and daughters of greats. For the Simmons sisters, this will mark the third lone venture, having already tapped into reality TV (Daddy’s Little Girls…spinoff of Run’s House) as well as fashion (Their very own shoe/clothing/lifestyle brand “Pastry”…look out for their new line “Box Of Chocolates” coming soon).  As for the Reid bro’s, it was only a matter of time before they walked down the path of their father’s footsteps. Together they have been on the move to continue their families’ legacy with the New Voices Tour, and by the looks of things…so far, so good.

The New Voices Tour Closes Up DC Auditions

NVT Judging Panel: Semi-Finals Show DC

The New Voices Tour’s first stop, the nation’s capitol, was a huge success…they came, they saw, they conquered. After choosing a top ten line-up of semi-finalist from the primary auditions in June, the tour returned to Washington, DC to pick a finalist. From July 16-18, the New Voices Tour owned the city. They demanded everyone’s attention with a kickoff party at one of DC’s hottest spots, Layla Lounge, to let the DMV know that they were in the building. The next day was led by a media brunch and press conference held at Indulj in Washington, DC. Attendees included some of the city’s movers & shakers, biggest blogs, major news publications, and even Jive recording artist, Raheem Devaughn stopped through. The official DC semi-finals show and after party at Zanzibar followed. The competition was close and the semi-finalist definitely brought their A-game! The DC finalist has yet to be announced but we are still on the edge of our seats to find out who it will be.

The New Voices Tour Takes on Cleveland

Meanwhile, the tour has moved on to their next location, Cleveland, this past weekend. Auditions were held at Scripts Night Club. Cleveland definitely showed out. The turnout was even bigger than the previous city which only tells us one thing…competition is heating up and shows no signs of simmering down anytime soon!

What’s Next???

I hope San Diego is ready, because DC and Cleveland definitely brought some hard acts to follow! San Diego auditions are August 28th…don’t forget to register to audition NOW!  www.newvoicestour.com
