John Legend & The Roots… “WAKE UP EVERYBODY” Video

Published by The Glit under News

The Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes track “Wake Up Everybody” has always been soulful sociopolitical anthem for change, and that’s exactly what John Legend and The Roots want their new LP to inspire. The powerhouse band and soul crooner collaborated entirely on the LP. The back-in-the-day ‘70s video for the first single “Wake Up” sets the tone for the soulful LP and Melanie Fiona and Common jump on the track and bring it full circle. Check out the vid.

Simmons & Reid New Voices Tour Updates: DC Semi-Finals Show & Cleveland’s 1st Audition

The Simmons Sisters & Reid Bro's Being Interviewed

A Bit of the New Voices Tour Background

Just in case you have been out of the loop on one of the biggest /latest movements to keep music alive, let me enlighten you. Back in June the music industry’s generation next, Vanessa & Angela Simmons along with Antonio Jr. & Aaron Reid, launched what could possibly be the most promising resolution to bring back music’s authenticity…The New Voices Tour!

While it would have been more than simple to sit back and enjoy the compliments of being heirs to their families’ empires, this tenacious group of moguls in the making decided that they wanted more than simply being known as the sons and daughters of greats. For the Simmons sisters, this will mark the third lone venture, having already tapped into reality TV (Daddy’s Little Girls…spinoff of Run’s House) as well as fashion (Their very own shoe/clothing/lifestyle brand “Pastry”…look out for their new line “Box Of Chocolates” coming soon).  As for the Reid bro’s, it was only a matter of time before they walked down the path of their father’s footsteps. Together they have been on the move to continue their families’ legacy with the New Voices Tour, and by the looks of things…so far, so good.

New Release by Lauryn Hill!!!… “Repercussions”

Published by The Glit under News

Lauryn Hill

Early this year rumors were swarming about Lauryn Hill getting back into the studio after her ten year hiatus. Well this weekend, there was even more of a buzz surrounding the sought-after songstress when her ‘new’ track “Repercussions” hit the web. It’s unclear whether this track is actually “new” or if it was originally made for one of L Boogie’s older LPs, but I think most would agree that it’s good to hear Ms. Hill’s voice regardless…The Glit is patiently waiting more…

Check it out, “Repercussion”…

Asia’h Epperson Is Here!…Deal With It!

Published by The Glit under New Glit, News

Asia'h Epperson

We have all heard the old proverb: “When one door closes, another door opens.” For Soda Pop Entertainment/Island Def Jam Recording artist Asia’h Epperson that saying has proven to be absolutely true. When the stand-out vocalist was eliminated from American Idol in 2008, she departed the stage uttering these simple words, “It’s okay, this won’t be the last time you see me…”

After stepping out of the Idol spotlight, Asia’h continued to push on like she had done after facing her first major rejection—being refused a record deal by L.A Reid at the age of 16.

It was only a year after competing on Idol, when Asia’h received an unexpected call from the legendary Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds. Taken by her compelling vocals and charisma, Babyface sought to nurture the budding star. Asia’h signed to Soda Pop soon after and has since completed her mixtape, Deal With It. When the DJ Don Cannon hosted mixtape hit the web in early June, downloads where just as resounding as American Idol votes.

Big Sean’s New Video “What U Doin (Bull$#!@ing)”

Published by The Glit under News, Uncategorized

Big Sean

Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music recording artist Big Sean has officially debuted his new video for the Olympicks-produced single “What U Doin? (Bull$#!@ing)”  from his debut album Finally Famous slated to drop on September 14th.

Contrary to the title of the new single, his grind is most definitely NO ”Bull$#!@’.  There has been a major buzz surrounding the 22-year old Hip-Hop artist on blogs and in the mixtape circuit since he dropped his UKnowBigSean mixtape in 2009 and the Finally Famous mixtape in 2007, shortly after being signed to G.O.O.D.  Now the up-and-comer is ready to do it big with his debut LP and another mixtape, tentatively entitled B.I.G, which will drop later this year.  Check it out the new vid!

Jazmine Sullivan’s New Single “Holding You Down”…

Published by The Glit under New Glit, News

Jazmine Sullivan

Looks like Neo Soul/R&B artist Jazmine Sullivan took a few cues from the past to create her HOT! new single. The new track, entitled “Holding You Down (Goin’ In Circles)”, produced by Missy Elliot, fuses Old Skool Hip-Hop sounds with lyrics from the classic Mary J. Blige track “Be Happy” in the intro. Jazmine Sullivan’s soul-filled vocals over the classic mixed/break beat creates the perfect concoction of Hip-Hop/Soul and gives us a little taste of what we’ve been missing…can’t wait for the album!

The New Voices Tour Takes Over The Nation’s Capitol

Published by The Glit under News

The New Voices Tour 2010

Luckily for us music junkies who have been doubting the direction of today’s music, the New Voices Tour has just given us a reason to keep hope alive. After devising a plan to satisfy the crave for new talent, the Simmons Sisters (Angela & Vannesa) and the Reid Brothers (Antonio Jr. & Aaron), along with fellow Executive James A. Smith, established The New Voices Tour.

Unlike your average talent competition, the New Voices Tour is in search for a broader range of entertainers. Uniquely, the tour seeks out all kinds of acts including Hip-Hop artists, R&B and Pop singers, groups/bands, and even spoken word artist. The tour stops in various cities throughout the United States, in hopes to find “the next big thing”! This opportunity will be a chance of a lifetime, and for many artists in the DMV (DC, MD, & VA) area… they have already begun to experience it!

This past weekend, June 20, 2010, the New Voices Tour stopped by the Nation’s Capitol, Washington, DC, to check out what the DMVr’s had to offer. Club 12 in Washington, DC was packed with the New Voices Tour team, industry heavy-hitters, and plenty of talented artists hopeful to leave a lasting taste in the judge’s mouths. The popular DC band, Mambo Sauce, even stopped through to give the New Voices Tour a slight sample of their sound. All in all, the turnout was successful and hopefully the judges were able to walk away with a few DMV definites!

The Glit is very excited about the New Voices Tour movement. We think it is an exceptional idea, being that it represents exactly what we are about — exposing the unheard!

If you are a talented artist and want a chance to be heard, make sure you check out the New Voices Tour and register to audition in a city near you! Visit www.newvoicestour.com for more information, and for their upcoming tour dates and cities.
